Is God Enough?

Have you ever said, “But, it isn’t enough.”  We demand more, and we want more.  We are never satisfied with what we already have.  We always see what we lack and demand to have it all, no matter the cost.

In the Bible, it says we are blessed.  We lack nothing as long as we put our trust in Jesus.  Philippians 4:19 states, “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”  God provides for our day-to-day needs and through Jesus we lack nothing.  Psalm 23:1 says “the Lord is [our] Shepherd, [we] lack nothing.”

God blesses those who love Him.  He blesses “those who hunger and thirst for righteousness” (Matthew 5:6).  He blesses “those who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart” (Psalm 119:2).  God blesses those “who take refuge in Him” (Psalm 34:8).  He blesses “the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him”  (Jeremiah 17:7).

When we start doubting our purpose for our lives, it is satan trying to discourage us.  He tries his best to make us walk away from Christ.  Satan tells us lies about Jesus to make us doubt God.  We begin to feel dissatisfied with where we are in life, and we demand more.  We stop looking towards God for the answers.  We start comparing our lives with those around us, and want what they have.

If you do not get anything else out of this blog, please get this:  Our lives look different, because God made us to be different.  We all have a different purpose to fulfill on earth, and we are all special to God.  No one is better than you and no one is beneath you.  We lack nothing, because God provides for our needs every day.  God blesses us every day.

What are lacking in your life?  Maybe you are not married and feeling whole is difficult at times.  Maybe you want a new job because you feel like what you do does not matter.  Maybe you want better pay so you do not have to budget each month to pay the bills.  Maybe you want a bigger house, but you cannot afford a larger place.  All these things are good as long as God is in the center of your life.  These things will not ever make us feel complete, because there will always be something that is better than what we possess.

The truth is, we will always lack when God is not in our lives.  We will never be whole without Christ living in us.  Let’s stop comparing ourselves to others and wanting material things, and start trusting God with our lives!

  1. Amen! The Body of Christ needs such messages of the Father’s love for us (the exact same love He has for Jesus – John 17:26) and our identity in Christ. He has me emphasizing the same. Dan Mohler is another who does so. If you are not familiar with him, here is a link to the first excerpt/partial transcript made of one of the numerous videos of him on YouTube: http://thelordiswithus.com/2015/11/13/excerpts-from-dan-mohler-normal-christianity-part-3-of-3-video/
    God bless you!

    • My desire is for the Body of Christ to know God and to trust Him in everything. We may all feel like we lack something at times but God is our provider, not the world. We belong to Jesus, and we lack nothing in Him. That’s incredible!

I will definitely watch the YouTube video tonight when I get home. I have never heard to Dan Mohler. Thank you for sharing this link!

    • This post came from the heart. I realized I was wanting things more than God. I had to reevaluate my life to realize I was not putting God first in one area of my life, and I became stir crazy. I allowed satan to enter my thoughts, and I started believing God forgot about me. God never forgets about you and it was a great reminder of who satan is during this time. I am glad I recognized this early so I could crush the devil’s schemes and focus on God more. He is my first love and will always be.
