Overcoming Adversity

Adversity is defined as difficulties, misfortune, trouble, hardship, distress, disaster, suffering, affliction, sorrow, misery, tribulation, woe, pain, trauma, mishap, accident, upset, setback, crisis, catastrophe, tragedy, calamity, trial, cross, or burden.

We all go through trials in our lives.  Some circumstances are created by bad choices we make and some are unavoidable because of the world we live in.  “We will all go through things in life, but the things we go through are the very circumstances, challenges, and situations that make us people who know how to overcome adversity.  We do not grow or become strong during life’s good times; we grow when we press through difficulties without giving up.”

We must have adversity in our lives to grow in Christ.  We must appreciate life and understand that it may not always be good, but God is always good!  He is always faithful! He is always in control!  We do life with Him every day so we can face our circumstances and fears head-on!  We must “press in, press on, [and] press through” our hardships and never give up to see the reward — to reach our future goals and our full potential.

Repeat the following statement today and believe that God is with you through hardship and suffering:  “God, I know that today nothing can happen that you and I can’t handle together.”

The hardships in our lives should never hinder us from God’s will.  They should make us stronger for going through  it!  Thomas Carlyle said that “the block of granite which was an obstacle in the pathway of the weak becomes a stepping-stone in the pathway of the strong.”  I encourage you to stay strong and face life with God!

(Quotes from the book, “Never Give Up” by Joyce Meyer)

  1. How very much needed is this focus today April ……”I encourage you to stay strong and face life with God!” yes Jesus told us in this life we will have trouble and that we will be persecuted if we follow Him Luke 21:16-18 and this includes sharing His Truth which brings Light into the darkness but some prefer the darkness and so as you shared they bring evil upon themselves, God does not afflict us, even to bring good out of it, Love can do no evil and He is Love.

Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Sadly some when faced with the hardship Satan and life brings give up they don’t become stronger instead they give into the weakness they feel and if they are hurt by others they hold onto bitterness and resentment and seek revenge, or they become addicted to toxic substances or mindless pastimes like gambling or perhaps Sport becomes their God and even Computer Technology, Cars, Craft, Travel T,V, Computer Games etc consumes their thinking or something else is used to stop them remembering how hopeless they feel but as Christians we have Eternal Hope which never lets us down. ( Isaiah 43:1-3 KJV )

Yes Satan controls this world (1John 5:18-20 KJV) but he is powerless to destroy those of us in Christ Jesus, our Souls are protected ( Psalm 97:9-11) and as we seek to be perfected in Love, (1John 4:17-19 -Matthew 5:48 – Hebrews 6:1 -2 Corinthians 7: 1- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 -2 Timothy 2:19-21-2Corinthians 13:11 KJV) and come close to God by choosing to walk in The Fruit of The Spirit, we are than empowered to be able to do so which puts to death our Carnal flesh (Romans8:12-15 – Romans6 – Colossians3:4-6 – Galatians24 -26 – 2Corinthians7:1 KJV) and than Satan flees, he cannot stand goodness.

Jude 1:24-25 Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding Joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Christian Love and Blessings – Anne.
