There is a song written by John Mark McMillan called, “How He Loves.” In my opinion, this is one of the most powerful songs ever written. My favorite verse in this song is:
He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions
Eclipsed by glory and I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great Your affections are for me
McMillan referenced John 15 in this song and beautifully wrote about God’s love for us. His love is so powerful it feels like a hurricane. His mercy is greater than we could ever imagine. He will cut the dead branches from our lives and prune us to help us grow stronger and be more fruitful. We may feel the winds bending us and stretching us to continue our growth in Christ.
We need to be able to handle the weight of this world as we follow after Christ whole-heartedly. We need to bear fruit and show others who Christ is through us. Matthew 5:16 says, “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Do you have a strong foundation to stand on when life’s storms come your way?
Is your life glorifying God?
Are you producing fruit that others see?
God wants to unleash the potential in you to do great things for His Kingdom. He wants to bless you abundantly and lavish His love on you every moment of every day. He wants to spend time with you and hear your voice calling out His name.
